Been thinking about bartering my AR-15 (value roughly $1000 or so if I were to sell outright) for a 1911 or a 1911 plus cash. So far here are my options on the table:
NIB Remington 1911 R1 Two -tone park/ stainless slide + $350 cash or Springfield Armory 1911 The other party's description through a text: "Springfield 1911a1. Think it's a Loaded model. Has Harrison design sights, 2 factory mags, 2 wilson combat mags, 2 cheap steel mags, houge grips, 2 bushing compensators (1 is wilsons, I'd have to see the packaging on the other)" EDIT: has roughly 400 rds through it and is about 4 yrs old -What would you guys "Value" this 1911 at with aformentioned mods? Do I need some cash on top? I'm pretty tempted with the Remington offer. I don't need the trade to be exactly even, I just dont want to be getting screwed. What do ya'll think? |

Between the two, the first one. But as long as it doesn't have the VIS issues that have been discussed here. The second one sounds like someone's fubared project gun... You're going to work on a gun and not know what model it is? Can't comment on the Harrison sights without knowing what type. The two Wilson Combat mags are around $55-60 new, the cheap mags are worth nothing and the bushing compensators are probably worth negative dollars. (make sure they have the original). |

I'd value the Springfield at about $800.
The R1's two tone finish puzzles me. Is it a full stainless gun with a painted lower? You can't parkerize stainless, so if it's a stainless slide, and the frame is actually parkerized, then it sounds like you have a parts gun. |

Pretty hard to call the Springfield without knowing which Loaded model it is and whether it's been messed with beyond the sights. The compensators wouldn't be worth anything to me, and the mags are worth $10 each, except the Wilsons which don't work in any of my Springfields, so they would be worth zero as well.
I'd put the trade value of the SA at around $800––certainly nowhere near $1k. |

Is it possible the frame is blued instead? The slide is Stainless. I was just assuming it was parked, but you know what they say about assuming... EDIT: looking at descriptions on line, they say "Satin Blue" frame. Looks exactly like this one. |

Spoke with the guy w/ the Springfield again. It is a Loaded all stainless model. He was willing to throw in about 500 rds of ammo as well.
I'm still leaning towards the Remington however just because it is brand new and I know what I'm getting (not someone's project or molested gun). I am still hoping to hear some opinions though, as I do not have my mind made up yet. Thanks guys. |
