Here's all I have at the moment but one in 9mm and one .45. The 9mm one has the factory Colt rubber non-fingergrip grips on it now and I have some thin bushings and screws waiting for me to get off my butt and order grips to go with them. I love me Defenders though! http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o355/banshee207/photo.jpg Awesome collection! Man I am 100% satisfied with my Defender and MC Operator. how do you like your Operator in relation to your other 1911's? |

Is it my imagination, or does one of your Defenders have a "speed bump" grip safety and the other one does not? I looked at the Defender but I can't stand speed bump safeties! Is that an aftermarket part or just an early Defender? If you're asking me? Those are 100% stock. Different models and or ages of Defenders have 2 different grip safeties. I've owned both. |

Yes, the 9mm has the beavertail style with the bump and three dot sights while the .45 has the duckbill style with big dot style night sights. I bought them both used but they don't appear to be messed with. I'll post some better pics tonight then. I prefer the 9mm and it has become my carry gun now but need to get rid of the Hogues on the .45!
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the MSH on the satin commander...yes, it's loose as I was messing with it before I send it out to the Colt custom shop and didn't bother to put it back together for the pic... I need to get off my butt on that too! Quoted:

Thanks, I like all of them for different reasons but the operator is a nice shooter and I got it used for a good deal. I have all three sizes in 9mm and .45 with a few oddballs thrown in there like the .22 and to be fair the .380 isn't really a 1911 in that it lacks the grip safety (it's an FIE but a really nice gun)
If I could only pick one it would be a hard choice. I was looking for a deal on an operator for a while before I found that one. I like the 9mm government in that I have a 38 super conversion for it as well but hate GI sights and can't bring myself to change them. The ATI Thunderbolt is a hell of a gun for the money and the 9mm Defender feels great in my hand and is my current carry gun. The MC Operator is nice but heavy and I wouldn't carry it because of the weight and I don't really need a rail on a carry gun. It makes a great nightstand gun though. Shoots well and never an issue. Now I just need a WW2 gun for a decent price and my collection of 1911s will be done! Quoted:

Maj...just out of curiosity do you know which ones had which sights on yours or were they the same? Both of mine had Novak white dot sights. I prefer tritium though. Just don't really feel like pumping out nearly $200 to have them installed properly. As of now, I took a syringe and deployed some extremely long lasting and radiant glow in the dark paint right on top of the white dots. You can't even tell that anything is different until the lights come off. When charged, they glow about 5 times brighter than tritium. |
