Any love for the SIS? I'm going to look at one, Its the full size with rail.
This will be my first 1911.
Thanks

remove the sissy cocking serations with something functional and it will be fine.

I'm a Kimber fan... have owned many (amazingly, none with any problems I read about on the internetz).
I missed out on the SIS when they were introduced.

NO FPS (Swartz), the slide and frame are stainless under that slick coating and a rounded butt on the Ultra model.

Other than the odd "SIS" on the slides (double on the 5" model) it was a gun I really wanted, but let too much time slip by.  I'd be interested in an Ultra model.
Good luck

One of the few Kimber models I wouldn't mind owning.

'Course I'd cut off the cocking serrations and do something grippier, but that's just me.

i had one and the gun ran good compared to my other experiences with Kimbers, but I got rid of it to fund a purchase of a TRP and never looked back.  I would say if you could get into it for $900 or less it would be a good buy if it was in good shape

I have 15,000 + rounds on mine and over 3 weeks worth of training courses. I will be at a course tomorrow all day with it and a CCW course on tuesday and wednesday night of next week. It is accurate, reliable and everything a 1911 should be. Frame to slide fit is there and the trigger is awesome.  The more I shoot it the better it gets.
After the 14,000 round mark I had the extractor, firing pin, barrel bushing, slide stop replaced with Wilson parts. Before that, I added a magwell from S&A. It's rare to see a production gun with the ledged rear night sight (my $1900 Vbob has the Straight 8's but I prefer the SIS's ledge sights ).

I absolutely love this pistol and it made me a fan of Kimbers for life.

That said, 1400 is way too high.

edit- It was my first 1911 also
