Ha ! I liken most 1911 work as grunt work, especially hand sanding. Checkering definately falls within grunt work. It's fun though. I just layed slide, receiver combo down that's within ten thousanths of being fit. When I get that close it's all handwork from there. Precision Gruntwork. ! 1911 looks nice. |

I had some practice working on my Mil-Spec, such as the checkering and parts replacement/fitting. This build was not too bad, but was quite a task when I look back and remember the pile of parts. On my Springfield, I did it one part at a time over a year so it was a bit easier to undertake. The Caspian parts are great and would recommend them for a starter set. Since I took the pictures, I made one modification to the Caspian. I filed down the bottom 3 lines of checkering on the front strap. They were sharp as heck and kept snagging on my shirt while carrying. It is now pretty concealed carry friendly. |
