Newbie here. Been reading this forum for the last couple of months preparing for a 1911 purchase later in the year. I'm sure there are literary tons of 1911 books available but do you have specific suggestions. Not interested in disassembly/assembly info, figure there is plenty of on line info about that. Not sure what all I need to know but very sure that after the purchase I will learn something that I should have known. :)
Any pointers are appreciated. |

Everyone who owns a 19!1 or loads .45acp should own a copy of,
Gun Digest, Big Fat Book of the .45 acp by Patrick Sweeney. That's the book to start your 1911 library with. Full of hands on insight into the design, logic, application and modernization of both 1911 and what most fail to realize is the heart of a 1911 or any .45acp hand gun. The cartridge itself. Failure to understand, comprehend and adjust for weapon feed channel is the number one reliability issue with any type weapon. If more 1911 owners would take more accountability in cartridge selection. 1911 feed malfunction would be virtually non-existant and 1911 cottage industry diminished as cartridge choices were better made. I'm not one to plug gun rag writers. Thus book isn't perfect but its well directed towards feed solution. |
