I'm looking for a new carry pistol, and very interested in this DW.
As I've got zero experience with Dan Wesson pistols, can any owners tell
me the good, bad or indifferent? I had planned to spend about $1100 and
took a look at the S&W "E" series, but my trusty CZ is telling me to go with
the V-Bob. Thanks in advance.

Umm... with a Dan Wesson you'll be spending a tad bit more than $1,100... they're more like $1,600... BUT!

You'll be getting a pistol that's the equivalent of a Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Nighthawk Custom, or Ed Brown... typically, those are vaunted names that are spoken of in hushed tones when mentioning semi-custom 1911's. Dan Wessons are very good quality...

I've got one. It replaced a POS Taurus PT1911 that I bought... (it was supposed to be a good gun and I want it to be but it's not reliable...)

I put 200 rounds of Wolf steel cased 230 FMJ through it. The ONLY issue I experienced was: load magazine... put into magwell... rack slide... pull trigger... CLICK!

I was thinking I just spent $1,600 on a damn pistol and it doesn't work? NO. I reseated the magazine with a bit more authority (slammed it in the magwell a bit harder than I originally did) and the gun proceeded to eat that ammo just fine!

I'd say get one and you won't be disappointed.

Mine will be primary CCW in the winter time... splitting time with a Sig P220...

This is a good use of post 2,000 for me. Dan Wesson is GOOD STUFF!!!

I have one from the end of 2010 and I absolutely love it. It was my first gun at all and I couldn't have asked for anything more. It conceals great being a single stack and it is truly an amazing firearm. Until you hold one and see just how perfect they are fit and finished, along with the fact that the Valor series starting in 2010 has no MIM, and is completely hand fit and checked. You will be more than satisfied with a DW, especially a VBOB.

Edited to add: I've got just over 2,000 rounds through it and it has been carried every single day for almost 18 months, it has had one jam and that was with a defective batch of ammo where the case wasn't crimped right so instead of the recoil spring chambering the round, it's energy went into setting the bullet back into the case, 5-600 rounds since then!

Go with the V-Bob. It is a well-made, reliable and beautiful 1911.

GREAT guns. I won't put them QUITE in the same plain as WC, NHC, LB or EB like Scorpion does but they're certainly nipping at their heels. I suggest getting one!!!

I think the Valor holds it's own against the bigger semi-custom shops, more so than some like to admit.  I will give the attention to detail to EB and Wilson, they do a great job at making sure all the little things are done right.

I have 2 Dan Wessons and love both of them.  My choice for carry is the CCO model.  Check it out as well.

My CCO quickly worked it's way into my holster more times than not. I'm really impressed with the quality of the DWs.  I would love to have a black Valor or V-Bob but I already have a nice Gov't & Commander that aren't leaving, so even in my sick & twisted mind, I can't justify the purchase yet

Maybe if I decided which I wanted, I could get there...

I sold one of my two glocks to lessen the hit on the pocket book.  My twisted mind rationalized it by selling a 357 sig glock to reduce my number of calibers for cost savings and ammo storage.  You have to think harder.
