I want to get my 1st 1911 to use for USPSA / IDPA. I have narrowed it down to Two:
STI Spartan 5" 1911 45 ACP, or Springfield RO I need to keep it under $1000.00 What does everyone think? |

I don't own either but I think either would be a good choice. To me it would come down to the crappy finish Kimbers seem to have as they don't wear well Vs the annoying rollmarks of the STI...can you tell I'm picky Edit: wow, never post when you're tired, I so misread that |

Did you keep the front sight stock, or did you change it to FO? If you did, was it a pain in the ass to change? |

I just got a Dan Wesson and it is awesome. If you keep your eye out you can get a used SS one for around $1000. Which model? The only one I am familiar with is the Valor. http://www.cz-usa.com/products/by-category/handguns/ |

My rear sight just came apart today so it may get changed out for a different type (I'm not sure yet) Other then that I really like the sights that came on it. I have just over 2,000 rounds through it, no issues other then the sight. |

I've never seen a duty treat Valor for less than $1400 (new they are about $1800). If you are looking new, I would recommend an STI Trojan or Dan Wesson RZ-45. |

Ya I got a good deal on it, but if you keep your eye out, there are deals to be had if you do not mind waiting. |

It's hard to beat Springfield out of the box these days in their price range. Sometimes some sharp edges and finish, but internally they are great.
Wow, that's an awesome price on a Valor. I'm in the market for one, too. I recently saw a Les Baer PII for a great price used, but I didn't get it in time. Whichever comes first that I see used for a great deal, I'll be picking up. |
