Just picked it up last night I've wanted one forever. I got a great deal I didnt want anything too fancy just something I could tinker with. I'm pretty new to 1911's always been a glock person. Not gunna lie I'm not even fully aware on how it comes apart and where to oil this thing. So needless to say I will be doing a lot of reading lol. And it will be getting new sights soon just looking for someone to dovetail the front.  Heres a pic.

Nice grips!! .. and not a bad way to start , But watch out 1911's are somewhat addicting and create fanboys OVER NIGHT!!

Congrats on the new toy, I mean 1911. It's easy to learn, hard to put down, and a boat load of fun.

Good shooting!

RIAs are nice pistols.  The GI model is a good basic 1911.  Watch the hammer bite.

DON'T buy a second one.  They are like rabbits.  They will multiply faster than you can keep up!

ARFCOM and Youtube are great resourses to learn 1911 tips and tricks.

Thanks guys. And I know its killing me that I can't shoot it. What are some decent upgrades and some good places to buy from. I want to do sights soon. Maybe a beavertail and was thinking a full length guide rod if its something I could benefit from, and lots and lots of ammo lol.

shoot first decide on so called upgrades later- full length guide rods are useless for one. not everyone gets hammer bite so a beavertail (which requires replacing the hammer too) may not be needed.
I prefer higher profile sights but that is about it.
most all 1911 parts require fitting - this isn't the  AR you can upgrade on your kitchen table.

Appreciate the response man. I guess the guide rod is out. One thing I def want is new sights and a few more mags.
