I got my new Professional from Springfield a couple of months ago and the first two range visits were a dream. Still a little tight in areas but nothing out of the ordinary. Took it back to the range today for the third visit and three mags in I came to a dead halt. After looking and talking with another it was determined that there is an issue with the sear spring. I have not even put 250 rounds through, is this normal? Also, what would be your recommendation for fixing, send it back to Springfield or take it to a local gun smith? Thanks and I appreciate in advance any advice.

How was it determined to be a sear spring issue?

If it is an issue that requires parts/work done, definitely call Springfield, they have some of the best customer service from what I've heard.

Well unfortunately I have little experience with the 1911's as this is my first and am relying on someone that seemed to have more experience. The hammer is locked half way back and the trigger is locked up. Any insight would be helpful. I am planning on calling Springfield in the morning but wanted to get some opinions. Thanks!

For sure, let SA fix the problem.  They will fall all over themselves to fix a problem on their flagship pistol.  Also, curious on the problem diagnosis.

If it was an RIA or one of the cheaper Sprinfields I'd say now is the time to familiarize yourself with the 1911, but a $2500 1911 isn't really something you go exploring on.  If it were me, I'd get the mainspring housing off, but at the same time I'd want to send it back to Springfield and make sure my expensive gun was working as it should from the manufacturer.
