I currently own a Kimber Pro-Carry II. I have over 3k rounds through it with very few issues. The only thing that I wish it had was a light rail. How difficult would it be to transfer the parts from the frame of the Kimber to a caspian frame that has a rail on it? I know this question may sound dumb but I would rather spend ~$250 on a rail and transfer the parts over then spend $800-$900 dollars on a new weapon.

That Kimber has a schwarze safety/pin block system in it,all "II" designated Kimbers are NOT true series 70 pistol, the Caspian frame is a series 70.
You'll need a .250 grip safety for the Caspian frame, you'll need to remove firing pin block and spring from slide in order for it to work with caspian frame, you may have to fit frame to slide-may or may not fit, other parts may or may not work, been there-done that with kimbers. Pro's are 4 inch barrel guns,Caspian commander frames are for 4.25 inch barrels,so you may have to modify the dust cover on the caspian frame also. You'll pay more than the price of the frame and have a few headaches before the transfer is done, but is doable..... You'll pay less than a new rail gun,but depending on the headaches and outcome, you might be happier with just giving in and buying a new rail gun. |
