Just picked up my first 1911 today , a Sprigfield loaded combat. Was trying to decide if I should use the Loaded Coupon or not. Anyone have any experience with their leather holster? Also are their mags worth the price, or should I just buy aftermarket ones...

Thanks guys

I've been struggling with this as well.  You can't beat $9/mag for the price.  However, I really don't want to be stocking up on 7 round mags.  I want at least 8, and wish that they came with even more.  Picked up a WC47D the other day from Cabelas, but it was $44.  I think I'm going to stick with 8 round mags to stock up on for me.

The leather holster and mag carrier are a good value.  Not premium leather, but well worth the price.

The coupon mags are also a good value.  I think you can call Springfield CS and get a discount price on any magazine that SA sells, not just the seven rounders
on the printed coupon.

My Springfields do not work reliably with Wilson magazines.  Its been my experience that you don't need to spend $30+ for a reliable magazine, unless the Wilson logo is what you're after.  For any aftermarket magazine, suggest you buy 1 (one) sample and verify it works well with your pistol before dropping a bundle on mags that aren't reliable.

I got the mags with mine and then got the Tripp Super7 upgrade kit for them.  Needed the skirted follower to not gouge my Al framed 1911.

get the mags.springfield even sells mag bumpers if you later add a magwell. call them for the part number and they'll let you add them to the coupon.
even if you want 8 rounders, 9 bucks a mag is cheap for range mags.

This.  SA mags are GTG.  No reason to pass up a few at the coupon price.

I used my coupon to get more mags.   I purchased the 7 rd blued ones.
They have worked well and I have not had any problems with them.

Very true. The SA mags have been 100% in my guns. 2 SA 1911s and a Clot S80.

I also got extra mags and the leather holster. The holster is not bad at all for the money.
I also had a problem with Wilson mags. The McCormick s worked ok. My loaded is stainless
and I got the stainless mags.

That is the same predicament I'm in with not wanting to stock up on 7 round magazines. I have a couple Kimber 7's that work really well, (I don't know how but they do, haha) But I like 47D 8 round and CMC Power mag 10 rounds.

ETA: I had three 7 round magazines that came with my Loaded, they worked great, so there is no problem with SA mags at all. I gave them to my brother for his Mil-Spec, he uses and likes them. Now that I'm thinking about it I might order some with my coupon for range mags.

Get the blued 7rders for range mags. They're GTG.

I also know that the stainless 10rders they offer on the coupon are pretty much junk.

Noob alert - sorry guys, but I am new to the 1911 scene.  I have my first 1911, a SA Loaded version, on lay-away at my local shop, but they never mentioned anything about a coupon.

Do all new SA 1911 come with one and what can you use it for?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I want to make sure I'm getting everything I'm paying for.

Thanks

coupon should be in the box. if it isn't call springfield and they should hook you up.
when i got mine, i didn't realize there was an "expiration date" for the coupon. Didn't really matter since they don't require a copy of your receipt. i ended up using my coupon nearly a year after purchasing the gun. they still honored it and i got my mags within a few weeks.

Yes they are, I ordered 2 and they both had the feed lips crack in less than 150 rds thru each.

But the 7 rdrs I ordered from SA have been flawless.

Are mags the only thing the coupon is good for, or is it a general discount off anything on their online store?

My local gun shop is running a special where I get an extra mag and box of ammo free if I purchase a SA 1911 on a certain weekend, which is why it's on lay-away.
So I should be walking out of there with 3 (7 rd) mags already, and 50 rounds of ammo (I'm guessing it will be cheap stuff, but who cares!).

I would love more mags, but I could also use a holster, and recommendations?

Lucky bastard. It was a couple years ago and it was my first 1911, so I ordered 10 7rders and 10 SS 10rders. Turns out, after 150-200rds through the mag, they like to start failing to feed the last round. Did this with pretty much all 10 mags (I'm sure there's one or two I haven't used). I really need to call them and see if they'd try and fix me up, but they're burried in an ammo can somewhere and I haven't gotten around to it.

EDIT: Boston22, they've got range bags, mags, t-shirts, some "leather holster", and a handful of other things on the coupon. I'm still sitting on one from a pistol I bought in May of 2010 hoping they'll honor it whenever I can spare some cash. If I remember, I'll take a pic of it when I get home so you know what's on it.

I assume this was on the 10rdrs not the 7?

I have heard that they will usually replace them, not sure if it needs to be within a certain time frame, I got mine last summer and never bothered to send the 2- 10rdrs that were bad back though.
