Okay, maybe not technically a 1911 thread but it seems like this is the best place to get an answer here.

I am lucky and I can carry pretty much any pistol I want on duty.  I have two 1911s that I had either purpose built or lightly modified to fit the bill.  One is a full size custom build on a Foster/Caspian frame and slide.  The other is a lightly customized old model 1991 Commander.

The Commander is my favorite 1911 model and what I would prefer to carry on duty.  The problem is finding a dedicated duty holster for it.  I do have a Safariland Model 200, but I would prefer something at least Level II for retention.  I don't like the Safariland 070 Level III and everything else I can find is made for the full size 1911s.  If I use a full size holster  I may as well carry the full size gun.

Blade-Tech does make a duty holster for the Commander, but I have heard nothing real world on their use.

Any thoughts guys/gals?  Has anyone shortened a Safariland ALS holster to fit the Commander?  I am not really in a rush so I am open to pretty much any good suggestions.

I'm not sure how you feel about Blackhawk Serpa holsters, but it works relly well with my 1991 Commander.

Safariland ALS

That is my preference, but that don't make a Commander specific one.  I wonder if it could be shortened to get rid of the extra material?

Safariland 6004. Don't worry about that 'extra' 3/4 inch. It's just extra protection for your Commander's muzzle.
