Anyone in here order a Professional Light Rail 1911 from Springfield? My Department is beginning to authorize 1911's for carry and I am planning on buying one and wondering how long the wait time is. I am planning on changing out some things from the standard and wondering if they are willing to budge on some of the standard stuff. Such as :

EGW Bushing (instead of NM)
Golf Ball front strap and rear of magwell (instead of checkering)
Stainless Naked Slide Bead Blasted (Instead of carbon steel, and marked)
Recessed takedown pin
more aggressive carry bevel
All stainless small parts (mag release, thumb safety, magwell, etc...)

How long is Springfield gonna take to build my gun if they will at all?

The SA custom shop won't change anything on the Pro that deviates from the FBI specs.  To have a SA custom shop gun with the specs you have listed, I would suggest you order a Custom Carry and have it built the way you want it.  The Custom Carry is the same exact base pistol (NM custom-fit frame to slide) as a Pro but you can spec it out the way you want.  Also, the SA CS doesn't do any stainless slides or frames, it's all carbon steel and they don't do naked slides either.  I would suggest hard-chrome if that's the look you're going for, and if it's for duty use, you can't beat it for durability.

When I checked about 1 month ago, the wait time was 15-18 months.  I would count on 20-24 months though, based on experience.

ETA:  You can order a Pro and send it back to the SA CS to have it modified the way you want...IMHO, it wouldn't be a Pro anymore though.  Like I said before, I would order one from the custom shop, like shipwreck has done, before I would order a Pro and have it modified.  The only difference would be the "CRG" serial number prefix and "Professional" rollmark.  On the LR version they both have the "Operator" rollmark, so it won't matter on that point.

Yes, any deviation IS possible, but then it's not a Pro.

I have a Springfield Custom Shop gun that I had made. It was an 11 month wait at the time. I hear it is up to 15 months now...

They can build you anything you want - and can make it look like a Pro. But, it will not be marked as such

Yes. The recoil is about 1/2 way between a 9mm and a 22. It's really cool.

I originally bought it as a range toy. I have been tempted to carry it, but never have. I carry my Beretta 92 fulltime. This gun is almost 2x the weight, and only holds 10 in the mag. But man, it is a fantastic range toy

I have never held a full rail 1911, but at twice the weight of a 92, holy moly

This one is heavier than one in 45 - as it is a 9mm bull barrel. The outside dimensions have to be about the size of a 45 barrel, but the inside is smaller. So, the barrel itself is very heavy since it is 9mm..

That ads to it besides the full rail
