I've had one for about three months now. It's got about 700 rounds down the pipe. Not one malfunction.
This is my first 1911, I carry it daily, I don't even look at my glock anymore.

It's wearing different grips now, just don't have a more recent pic.
I also installed a Greider Precision short trigger since this pic......I think I'll take some new pics

I have one and can shoot it as well as any 5" 1911 I own.

I have shot the LW 5".  They are nice.  They make great carry guns.  For a shooter that I was putting plenty of rounds through, I would rather have a full steel version.

If it suits your needs though, go for it.  I love my Springfields.

I'd like to have the full steel version, but the only ones I've seen have the OD green frame. Do they make an all black operator?

They did make all black operators.  You may just need an older used one.

Gunbroker has a few now.  If you check there over a few weeks, I am sure you will find one that suits you.

As an aside, my OD green 1911 is the one that is the most rust resistant.

What do y'all think about the lightweight frame? Has anyone heard of any problems? The lighter frame cracking or anything?

I did ALOT of research about the durability of the aluminum. The hard anodizing coating will protect the frame very well.
And if for some reason anything ever happens, springfield will cover it under their warranty.
