OK, so I know, I am retarded. I was changing out the main spring housing and let the left tab of the leaf spring slip off the sear (hammer will not catch at all now). I figure no biggie, I just take the msh back off, pull the safety and backstrap safety off, replace the spring, re-assemble and life is good. The msh came out no problem, the safety will rotate up a bit, but will not come free. I've tried wiggling it up and down (from safe to fire) as i pulled, i've tried smacking the other side of the pin with a non-marring punch, I've even tried wedging a small flat tip screwdriver between the detent and the safety to try and free the safety, all have been no gos. Is there some trick to the Kimber safety that is different from a Springfield? The safety is a standard left side only model, but i have never run into a problem like this before. Any help is greatly appreciated, I had to cool down and make this post before I did something crazy (think dremel and a new safety).

Yeah, because the leaf spring is off, the hammer doesn't lock when under tension, but i did push it back (since the msh is off, it has free travel the whole length).

With the hammer back and the safety engaged a little wiggle should be all that is necessary.

Also, take the slide stop out to reduce detent spring pressure on the safety.
