1.)  What companies have you sent your 1911s in to install sights?

2.) What companies have you sent your 1911s in for a new paint job? Duracoat/ Cerakote?

And tell me the turn around time for each. Thanks!

You can try Novak
They offer sight work and refinishing.

Yeah, I was just looking at their site. The sights seemed a bit pricey? I'm wanting tritium front/rear sights.

If your willing to send off for a new finish I would go with robar.  Their finishes aren't just a coating they bond at the molecular level.  Also many of their coatings are self lubricating.  I believe average turn around time is 3-5 weeks.

Just the sights are anywhere from $100-$200 for the set.  However depending on what you currently own, they may need to be cut to fit the sights you want.  If that needs to happen, it's important you have them cut before you have the guns treated or coated.  Novak can do both I believe.  Don't be suprised if the wait time is 6+ months.

Just give the 1911 to your dad and you won't have to worry any more at night about who to send it to

I sent in my SA GI to the Springfield Custom shop.  Amongst the slew of things done to it I had them install Novaks and had it refinished in Armory Kote OD Green.  I think the turn around time was approximately two months, but remember there were a bunch of other mods done also.  Oh, I did ask Deb about having another 1911 refinished in FDE and she said it wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah that's what I will probably end up doing. She said the turn around time for it to get refinished would be about. 2-4 weeks. Might as well just get sights done while its there.
