| I have a 1911 style CD that has a problem. Is Charles Daily still in business? I need to send this pistol back to Daily if he is still in business. Any ideas fo an address? |

Daly is tits up you might be able to contact Armscor CS and have them check it out. RIA and Daly were both made by Armscor [email protected] |

Charles Daily is a brand name not the name of the guy who owned the company (though Charles Daily probably was/is someone). I believe Michael Kassnar owned the company. Anyhow the company used to be or may still be in Harrisburg, PA. Used to be Kassnar arms and also KBI. |

The slide seems to be almost frozen to the frame. Yep I bought it used for a rock bottom price without firing it. I am an idiot.

There could be a case (out of spec) stuck in the chamber. |

Can you detail the problem? NEVER fired it? Anyway you can get it apart? I fired it once and it fired and the slide stayed open.(I hand fed a round into the chamber). Decided to remove the keeper that holds the slide to frame to clean the weapon. Removed the slide and left the spring assembly in place. Sprayed it down, blew it dry, and lubed it. When I assembled the weapon the slide to frame fit is very tight and you cannot cycle the action. What gives? |

Dude, I am no expert, but how can you remove the slide stop (the thing holding the slide to the frame) and take the thing apart, then try and put it back together the same way?
Take out the bushing and spring (watch a YouTube video or find some online instructions) from the slide. My guess is the spring is bent all to hell. Take it apart correctly, clean and reassemble correctly. I think it's not the gun, but the operator - but don't feel bad - I'd be embarrassed to tell you some of the things I've done. |

It has a tapered barrell instead of a bushing. I am not pridefull....I will take help. |

IMHO something related to the assembly is jammed up, but not having a Daley and being far from a 911 guru, that is just my best guess. You need the instructions, period. Find them and you will be well on your way. |

A Charles Daly 1911 was my first 1911. it's not as pretty as all of my other 1911's but it goes bang every time (since I stopped using the mags that came with it |

I found the problem. The bushing that fits in the housing that holds the spring was not correctly installed. I wonder if that was the reason the previous owner chose to sell cheap. thanks for the replies. Mike Yeah - people botch up a pistol, can't fix it, can't find help and they simply abandon it, which is where you can buy it, fix it, shoot it and sell it for a profit to finance your next buy - typically a better 1911. Glad you got it - I knew something held the spring it besides magic pixie dust So now it operates correctly? When you gonna test fire it? |

I am going to a youth camp this next week as a consulor so it will probably be the next week befor I shoot again. I am thinking if this happens again I might either ping the bushing and gently drive it into it's place OR perhaps rough the bushing and use some loctite to hold it in place. again thanks for all the help. Before you do anything else, look at this schematic and tell us exactly what parts you are talking about. You shouldn't have to peen or Loctite anything.

I can't understand how it was slightly out of place. |

I can't understand how it was slightly out of place. As someone said pinging (staking?) or locktite seems not to be an approved assembly technique. I'd have to look at the thing, but my advice right now is shoot it for a bit and enjoy the fact you fixed something another shooter was stumped by, saving you a significant amount of money |
