Link pin on a friend's Taurus PT1911 is drifting back and forth in the barrel.  He said this has happened since day one.  I noticed it when I swapped out his FLGD for a GI set.  What do you guys recommend?  He will not ship it back to the factory to get them to fix it.  So...that leaves replacing with an oversized one or stake the pin in on both sides?  Helpful comments/suggestions wanted.
Thanks

1. Do nothing as the frame keeps the pin in place.
2. Just stake it.

No need for an oversize pin.

This.

I had one that was loose on one of my Springfields. I put up with it for a couple months before I finally decided to lightly stake it into place. Been problem free for 2 years now.

A loose link pin is not a problem.  The only reason to have a tight one is to prevent loosing the pin and link during disassembly.

If you want to tighten the pin, lay the barrel lugs on a bench block and use a >dulled< center punch to put a small dimple on both sides of THE PIN on each side.
Put the dimple close to the edge of the pin, NOT on the barrel lugs.
The object is to move a little metal toward the edge of the pin, not just to put a punch mark on the pin.  Use a dull punch to move metal.

^ This is what I did to my Springfield Champion. It was very easy and only took one tap(I only did one side).  I used this picture I got off the M1911 forum as a guide.  David
