That Model was Wilson's "no frills" budget gun. From what I hear they were great pistols for the price. They don't make any models like that anymore.

I wouldn't say you did bad since Wilson's have gone up in price a lot since that was sold new, but you also didn't steal it.

That seems a bit high, unless it came with a lot of mags and goodies.  If the round count is accurate, a bit of a premium is understandable.

I see those around Arkansas for generally around $1000-$1200. Good guns for the money. No checkering and the finish always killed them for me. To do the additional work, you're probably looking @ $450+ to undercut, checker, re-finish and shipping both ways

I saw a pretty clean one for sale locally a couple months ago, they were asking 1050 for it. I dont know if its the Kimber stigma or what but they arent really appreciating like a CQB or the like. Nice 1911s regardless.

Nice 1911 , a bit high I think, I believe the frames and slides were made by Jericho in Yonkers, NY. which is a Kimber slide and frame and also used the MIM parts called value line, some even had plastic guide rods.

I dont know that Kimber was part of Jericho before Wilson bought the parts or not. There was also the Ithaca 1911 that came out of the same parts bin at about the same time. Rare as anything but those were really nice pieces too.

Congrats, Chef! I carry this one every day and love it. I've replaced the original sights with XS 24/7s, added skateboard tape and an arched MSH, and had the finish coated at Advanced GunWorks in Roanoke. It delivers everything in accuracy and reliability you'd expect from a Wilson 1911.

You didn't get a steal, but you ended up with a great gun.  Shoot it and be happy.

Yes, Wilson got slides and frames from Jericho and then Kimber for a few years during that time frame, and the too companies had a bit of an advertising duel as well.  There's a tacked post in one of the 1911 forums about this in the Kimber section.

I just dug out my Bill Wilson video that deals specifically with building this pistol. Suggested retail in 1997 was $1295.00.
