Been keeping an eye out for a new Colt 70 series (O1970A1CS or O1070A1CS). Refuse to pay silly gun store prices. Happened to check Bud's and Ozark Guns this morning. Both show the O1070A1CS (SS model) in stock. Although, Ozark shows only ONE to be in stock. Both asking $925. Ordered one from Bud's....free shipping....no tax!!
Thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else is having a hard time finding one. And I know, the blue ones are like finding hen's teeth. ETA: Well, that didn't last long. Damn these go fast! Bud's is already showing "Out of Stock". Not sure about Ozark, I don't think they update their site as quickly as Bud's. Hope somebody got one that was looking! |

They seem to be pretty hard to find. I got a blued one off GunBroker 2 months ago when there was a brief flurry of them on the market. Now there seems to be zip. I asked the main Colt dealer in Alaska if they had any or were expecting any and got laughed at. They get like one per year...
Many of the custom 1911 smiths prefer to work with these new "re-issue" Colt Series 70 models over the originals from the 70's. Maybe one reason they are hard to find besides them being a Colt Custom Shop item. |

Maybe one reason they are hard to find besides them being a Colt Custom Shop item. So why are they in the standard Colt catalog? Good question. It's what I read from the Colt "experts" over on the 1911Forum.com. The Colt on-line catalog does not really specify. ETA link detailing the new Series 70. Read the last Paragraph above the pics. Read the last Paragraph above the pics. Linky Not to show you up, or anything, but it looks like that article was written in 2002 or 2003. Since they've been in constant production (well, cycles really) since then, it's pretty easy to see that they're not some special edition. BTW, nothing out of Colt's Custom Shop would be sold for $800. They like to charge more for those particular items. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

And they sell MSRP for closer to a $1000 not $800, not to show you up or anything.

The reason they are made out of Colt's custom shop is this. Once colt went to the series 80 firing pin block they could not go back by a legal standpoint. With colt custom shop making the WW 1 and WW2 Repro's , the Series 70 and Talo making the wiley clap and so on they are marketed as collectable's. Thus getting around the legal issue of going back to a series 70 firing pin system.
And yes they do do batch runs of them but they do them 3-4 times a year. Hope this helps. |

I've seen them at $850-860 at 2 different shops outside of Indianapolis, NIB. Wow. That's pretty good. I haven't seen anything less than $925 in a while. There's one on GB right now with Buy Now price at $950. For all practical purposes...it is now a 1K gun. |

That's exactly what I figured was the case. Had conversation just the other day with a buddy on this subject. |
| I wanted to ask if you are still looking for one? I know its not blued but a guy offered me a trade on one that is hard chromed. I think he is thinking trade value is between 700-800. If you are interested pm me and I will get his email for you, the guy is in VA. I ended up getting a Para Ordance GI Experet and some cash for my L1A1 from CIA. |
