| What purpose would be served by venting a 4 1/4" Commander length barrel? |
|
my mistake with the verbiage.
I am looking at a ported (previously called vented) Colt Commander It has two holes in the barrel near the muzzle as well as the slide The holes are small slots Nothing has been added to the slide or barrel I thought this would help with muzzle flip. But how much is there with a Commander and 45 ACP? What are the downsides with porting? Does it mess up follow up shots? What about at night? |

SA used to sell what your asking about. they called it V something or other.
porting lower velocity, night blindness, louder, need to know where the top of the gun is pointing. A proper grip will help a lot on gun control. Done right porting will help, done wrong u got a paper weight. I'd recommend against any type of porting on a CCW. |

I have a Springfield V10. Officers size, 5 ports on the 11 and 5 ports on the 1 Oclock. It is less snappy than a standard Officers sized gun. It is also TWICE as loud. I've owned it for nearly 14 years and put maybe 300 rounds through it.
I keep threatening to put a commander slide on it to get rid of the ports. |

Ports don't do much of anything for a .45 acp. |
