Just bought a 22lr conversion on a dedicated frame. It's the full size version.
Trying to get more fimiliar with the new gun and cant seem to get the upper off. Pulled out the safety pin and even the barrel bushing. The slide seems like it dosint budge forward at all. Any ideas?? |

Yea safety pin = slide stop hahaha It was late and couldn't think of the correct term.
I have a differant 1911 and field strip that one with no issues... I figured just take that slide stop out and it should slide out but it dosint.. Haven't shot it yet.. Everything seems to function correctly.. |

Don't deactivate the grip safety. It's impinging on the plunger thingy that pushes up towards the slide, and that will make your slide stick. Usually, I wind up getting mine on and off by NOT wrapping my thumb around the back of the frame; or if I need to use my strong hand to "pull" the slide on, I loop the webbing of my hand under the rearmost tip of the beavertail, so that any additional stresses are NOT deactivating the grip safety. There should be something about that in the owner's manual. If you sheer off the tip of that plunger, you're fucked, and they can easily ID WTH happened. |
| Make sure there is not a magazine in the pistol because slide will not come off with mag in well. If there is no mag in the well sounds like the slide is grabbing on the ejector or barrel lug is catching in the frame. Retract the slide on an unloaded pistol and see if there is any play in the barrel. The barrel has to be aligned for the slide to go on the frame. If the barrel is canted the slide may not want to come off. With the take down pin removed you might try tapping on the rear of the slide to see if the slide will start to come off. If the slide is hitting the ejector the ejector or slide should show wear or be scuffed. |
