| Looking to get a 1911 pistol soon and so far I like the range officer from SA. My only hang up is that it's not made in the states. So I guess that leaves Kimber and Colt. Any other brands USA made at similar price points? Looking for a ccw/action pistol/bowling pin multipurpose gun and hopefully idpa this summer. Any recommendations ? |
| The ROs are finish-machined and assembled in the US with enough value added to claim "made in the USA" which presumably means greater than 50% U.S. content. If that bother you, so be it. That said my new all-American Ford F-150 had a sticker on it that said 55% North American content which includes Canada and Mexico thanks to NFTA. What are you gonna do? |
| all springfields gun at least to a degree are improts-some are assembled here but are still basically a brazilian produced gun. I'd go Colt myself. a good used 1991a1 can usually be found for under 600 bucks. It is a great place to start. If you can go up to about 1k, the new Colt rail gun is getting rave reviews. all the 1911's new under 700 bucks are made overseas. |

CRG, may not make weight for IDPA CDP class, esp if you add a much needed (for the game) magazine well. |

none of SA inc products are 100% made in USA-they are despite all the red white and bule waving in ads and the slogan "oldest name in American Firearms".
The Frames for the 1911's come from Brazil as well as most of the other major parts M1A parts from Taiwan XD's 100% made in Croatia they are really a very slick marketed importer |

They mave many people employed at their custom shop in Geneseo machining/fitting/finishing the raw frames and slides they get from Brazil (that are marked "NM"). They do enough work in Geneseo on the NM prefix guns that they qualify as Hecho en Estados Unidios. Personally, I'd take a good forging no matter where it's from. It just so happens it's not in this country. Heck, when it comes to FAL's, everyone fawns over an Imbel forged unit. But when it comes to 1911's, they're imported crap...Right. I've got no problems with anything else you said (especially the XD). Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
