I am thinking about getting a 1911 45 acp Commader Size with a rail.  Anyone have any suggestions for what direction to go?

Nothing outrageous but  I want a quality dependable pistol.

I called Colt and asked if they could do a custom Commander rail gun.  They just said no.

I've got a LW Champion Operator. Ideally I would have liked to have had a bushing barrel as opposed to bull but I'm not mad about it.

I just measured up my commander and my rail gun. If one were so inclined, they could mill off the first lug of the rail guns frame, bevel the second lug, and fit the commander slide to that frame easy enough. It would be factory like sweet. Or buy a custom frame. Imo, it looked like a perfect little pistol. I really wish that would offer one.

They would sell the heck out of those... Wonder why no 4.25" love in the rail gun?
The milled frame option is interesting...

The Springer option is competing with a DW Valor for my next 1911 purchase currently.

I think it was interesting that they were not open to it on a custom basis.  I would not be surprised if they offer a railed commander in the future.   It is an obvious next step.  In addition, S&W will be ramping of production of the E series througout this year and it may be a promising option.

Kimber TLE/RL would get my vote. I like the weight, feel and it's accurate.

Also, I would vote for a Valor over any SA 1911. Those Dan Wesson's are some of the nicest 1911's available in my opinion. I have a CBOB.
