Hi everybody,
I was cleaning my 1911 today and noticed that the ejector was loose (the part facing the hammer had a small "up and down" movement). I was wondering if that is normal or if I needed to send it back to the manufacture. The gun is a Remington R1 and only has 300 rounds through it. I was wondering if this is a easy fix (if I could fix it myself) or if I should send it back to Remington. I'm no 1911 expert and any advice is very much appreciated. I really dislike sending products back for the time it takes. Thanks! |

Interesting. The ejector on my R1 was loose as well. As Danno said, Just push out the pin and LocTite the rear (smaller) peg into the frame.
I went ahead and replaced the ejector with a Wilson Combat part, which fit the R1 frame tight as a glove. I suspect some of Remington's cast parts are a little undersized. My extractor was loose as well, owing to an undersized Firing Pin Stop. New extractor and FP stop fit the slide as tight as could be. . . If you do send it back, let them know that their pistols are leaving the factory with loose parts. . . I'm very happy with the R1, It is VERY accurate, has never given me a FTAnything, and the slide/frame fit is excellent, as is the barrel/bushing. My frame even has the faintest hint of a bowtie and good solid barrel lug contact throughout. I think these 1911's represent some of the best values to be had. That being said, at the current price point they were obviously unable to use top shelf parts. It's not very hard to fix this yourself, pretty easy in fact. Good luck. |
| So I call the manufacture and the guy that answered the phone said there was nothing wrong with the ejector, saying it was within specs. Luckly, I was on my cell phone and got disconnected (bad reception). I then called back and spoke to another representative who will send me a pre paid label and told me they will fix the problem. It is funny how you can get different answers within a 5 minute span. |
