I LOVE the feel of a 1911, but got the chance to fingerfuck a P-16.
Not gonna lie it felt like it was custom made to my hand. Only downfall was it was in .40, I want a .45 I've looked at the Para P-14 but has several things I'm not fond of like the plastic trigger, non dovetailed front and rear sights (so night sights are a bitch to find) the grips were plastic and the only replacement option was the pachmar wrap arounds with finger grooves. (you've all seen em) what other options do I have? S.T.I. Is out of the question I don't have three grand to drop on one. The Springfield armory doublestack seems as rare as hens teeth. So what are some more options build one? I don't have the tools or know how so I'm thinking it could get kinda pricey fast. Is the Para "upgradeable" standard parts on the trigger, have a smith machine the slide for different sights? Sorry this is a lot of rambling but this all kinda popped into my head after some reading. So hold my hand and spoon feed me some info.

Don't know what kind of requirements you have but RIA makes a doublestack that uses Para mags. I have a few of their single stacks and they are good to go.

Hogue sells wood & other grips for Para Ordnance doublestacks.
I wouldn't personally spend my money on a Para, but if you insist on doing so, I'd advise avoiding the LDA. Stick with the traditional 1911 trigger system and you have a lot less to go wrong. The Springfield hi-caps are basically a Para clone. They are out there but in small numbers, and are even more basic than the Para guns. |

This is just a play toy. I won't be carrying it C.C.W. or using it for H.D.
I just want one for the range that's why so far leaning towards the Para since a used one is under 800 bucks that STI edge looks like the hotness but for 1800 bucks it's a little more than I have to spend. |

If the new Edge is only a little more than you want to spend, consider a used one. I've found that buying used isn't as much of a problem with the doublestacks like the Edge... because owners of them tend to know what they're doing and don't do as much stupid shit like hogging out half the feedramp with a Dremel, polishing the edges off the sear, etc. |
