I have read in various places that as of summer 2010 the XSE Commander will have the S&A upswept grip safety as pictured on the Colt website.
I have yet to see any pictures from the real world of this configuration. This is killing my plan to purchase a new 1911 on March 29th any insight? |

you could: buy one and have it installed; buy any one of the many available and have it installed; send your new purchase to SA and have them install what you want. I certainly could for ~$150 I'd rather get it as close to what I want as possible from the factory |

I recently purchased a XSE Commander, and the Colt website I looked at doesn't show an upswept beavertail. It shows the goofy duckbill grip safety. The description for the XSE Commander reads "beavertail"; not upswept beavertail. I bought it anyway. Geat pistol. http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/tabid/61/CatID/12/Default.aspx a-bare |

I have no complaints with the Duckbill grip safety but for a Colt's famous razor sharp edge...all of the Colt XSE's I see currently in stores around me (except for the plain XSE Government) had the upswept safety...regular Government XSEs all seem to still have the Duckbill 'round here...

I was looking at the one pictured at the top of the XSE page. The individual pictures show only the lightweight with the duckbill. a-bare |

I chased one that looked like new at Cabelas gun library for $770, it was gone before I got there,....I would have grabbed it for sure.
I have been looking too, and resigned myself to just order a new one from a dealer. XSE Commander, or Lightweight. I like the 4-1/4 for carry...I dont think I am going to lose much on accuracy over a 5" |
