I didn't see anything about this posted yet.

Between 1942 and 1945, Ithaca Gun Company made 382,000 of the .45-caliber Model 1911-A1 pistols for our military. During that time Ithaca received a Certificate of Appreciation from the federal government for the improved manufacturing procedure for the triggers.

Ithaca Gun Company announces the release of the new venerable Model 1911. Manufactured 100% right here in the USA at our factory in Upper Sandusky, OH.  We’ve applied the same quality principals that go into our shotguns to this outstanding firearm. Starting with the frame and slide that are hand lapped to exacting fit for the owner that demands a precision firearm. The 1911’s will be available in the first quarter of 2011 with prices starting at $1,299.

Looks a lot like Springfield's new "Range Officer" offered at around $500 less
They can keep it at that price, it won't be like the ones they made back then...besides I like mine better
Made in 1943, carried by my grandpa in Korea. This baby's seen lots.

I said it "looks good" as in aesthetics.  Nothing about it prima facie seems to be worth $1300.  I'm no psychic and do not have the power of x-ray vision but my post seems fairly clear.

That looks a hell of a lot more appealing, and reasonable, than the earlier model they were touting.

The earlier model was tacky and overpriced, IMO.

Are you just adamant about derailing this thread with some kind of childish Facebook-style argument or something?  Grow the fuck up or go back to General Discussion.

the last time these were talked about, the 1200 or so starting price was going to be for the base model, one similar to WWII production

and then the price went up for the more expensive ones.

if ithaca wanted to really hit the market running, they should change that adjustable sight to a fixed sight, and put the price at around 1K.

i know they didnt actually manufacture this one, but all they had to do was get rid of the billboard sized rollmarks on their 50th anniversary model, add the checkering, and change the trigger

IMO, if they release a true WWII repro, and the high speed low drag model, they would be golden.

I agree 100% lose the adjustable rear sight. How sweet would a wwII repro be!!

Agreed about dropping the rear sight for a fixed one. The adjustable one just looks out of place IMHO. Otherwise I like how the pistol looks. Somebody buy one when they come out and send it to me for testing

I would like to see a blue 1911 not A1 at a working mans price point. Now that would sell like cheap surplus ammo.

Are these forged or cast? I like the idea of 100%USA they say. Today you don't know what kind of crap gun companies put in to lower costs. Talking about Ithaca making a repro, how about Remington making a repro wwi umc 1911
