Doing a cleaning today and found this

I think I have probably less than 25 rounds through this thing.  Supposedly this is a new 1911 (Springfield Compact).

Crack is fairly shallow, but I'm assuming it needs replacement right away.  What caused this sort of problem?

Hard to tell from the photo, contact SA customer service they'll take care of it.

May not be a crack. I posted an old colt barrel years back and found out they came that way in the process. May be the same for you. As low.pressure as . 45 is, it would have to be a real defect or overpressure occurrence.

Looks more like a machining slip up. Contact SA and get the to make right this being a new gun. In any case, i don't how a imperfection like that is gonna cause problems regarding operation os the gun.

Still...MORE PICS!!!

I don't think it's a crack, but a little residual metal from the machining process.

Looks like this to me too.

Like when the barrel lugs were machined..a small stand-up sliver was left upright..and has been smashed down to now match the barrel's circumference.....I bet you could probe it with a screwdriver and break it off the barrel.

Worn tooling bit. Doubt it's an actual crack.

Still, looks like bleh, does SA use a 2 piece barrel in the compacts?
