| I am thinking about getting a Commander sized 1911 and wanted to know if the Colt 1991 Commanders are series 80 (or at least have the firing pin block safety). Which Commanders have the FPBS? |

Quoted: Quoted: I recommend that you look around for a Springfield loaded champion. I had one and just loved it. I've had both and the Springer was way better. I really love my new Colt Commander. I don't own a Springfield, but comparing both at the shop I thought the new production Colt felt better. (YMMV) |

I have had both and I prefer the Colt. My Springer loaded was nice but picky with some ammo and the commander has shot everything I have put in it. Nothing against the Springer though, it shot most things VERY well.
Your mileage may vary though, I may have just had a picky Springer. Patrick |
| The QC on the latest Colts is extremely good and if you have no issues with the Series 80 firing pin safety system...which tends to work just fine and be trouble free...they will serve you well. My personal preference is for the 4 1/4in barrel with bushing, which the Colt will have, but the Springfield is not exactly 'junk' either. |

I have been very impressed with my S80 Commander. Build quality is excellent and function has been flawless. |
