I just wanted to share some pics of my latest project.  It started as a Springfield Loaded 1911 in 9mm I picked up used on Gunbroker with the idea of making it a cheaper alternative to shooting .45.  I plan to train with it and possibly shoot IDPA with it.  Here's a list of items added:

10-8 rear sight with .140 notch
10-8 flat trigger
10-8 stainless slide stop
10-8 stainless grip screws
10-8 stainless mag release
Wilson Combat G.I. style recoil spring guide and new stainless ringed plug
Wilson Combat 10rd 9mm mags
Novak fiber optic front sight
Smith & Alexander stainless mainspring housing
VZ grey golf balled grips
Wolff 11lb variable recoil spring and 19lb mainspring

Thanks guys!  I love projects like this and have been looking forward to putting it together for a while now.  So far it's really paying off nicely.  However, this is just the first step.  I don't even know what else I may do but it will be a continued evolution as I shoot it.  I can't wait!

Nice.

Did the 10-8 rear sight fit into the existing Novak dovetail cut?

That is reall well done.

How is the reliability?  I've heard that 9mm 1911s are a bit finnicky.  I went with Super 38 because of that.  Since I reload anyway, it's not as big a deal, but 9mm is definitely easier and cheaper regardless.

I have the springer 9mm with the Bo-mar style rear sight and haven't had any malfunctions at all.  I've had around 1000 rounds through it so far.  I also have the RIA tactical 9mm and haven't had any problems with it either.  I've got mil-tac grips on mine and the only other thing I want is a fiber optic front sight.

A little fitting and it went right in!

Thanks, but I already had a Kimber Stainless Target in 9mm and a Pro Tactical in 9mm.  I just wanted a full sized, fixed sight 1911 with the items I installed.

By the way, here's a crappy cell phone pic of a group I'm kinda proud of on my second outing with the Springfield.  10 shots @ 10 yards...
