My RIA Tactical was a pretty good 1911. It shot accurately and was reliable. I'd would have rather had a Mil-Spec just because they use a forged frame and slide.

if you got the $$$$ the Ed Brown 9mm Executive Target is out there in limited numbers(~50)

I'm waiting for Ed ti start releasing all the models in 9mm. If he does - I'll have me a 5", 9mm Kobra :)

I would suggest either a STI Spartan 9mm or a Rock Island 9mm.   After my experiences with Springfield's Loaded 9mm, I wouldn't recommend it.

Brazos Custom (good place to buy from) also has the STI Spartan in 9mm for $628.
Here is the write up I did on mine in .45.

If you can find one, Colt 1991. I love mine and don`t plan on parting with it any time soon.

Springfield Loaded........would be a good starting point.......Having been there and done that. .In my opinion I will not do a 9mm 1911 without a ramped barrel.......period...................

so now just gonna sit and wait for either one that is sitting a shop that needs to be sold or for Brown to make other models in 9mm.

If a 9mm Kobra with a ramped barrel were available, I'd definetly order one to go with my 45.  If the 9mm exec. target sold out that fast, he may want to do a few more later.

I have a RIA 9mm that I like.  Good gun so far.  I recently ordered 2 more 9mm mags from CDNN.

I have had great luck with  1911. Loved my .45! How much do the

mags run? I assume they are round 9 rounds?
9/17/2010 4:08:36 PM EDT
[#19]
they can either be 9 or 10 round mags.  if you get a Springfield it comes with a coupon and i think the mags are $20, or you can get Wilson ETM's for $30.

here's mine with both the Springfield/Metalform (9rd) and Wilson ETM(10rd) mags.
(yes i know the safety isn't on, there is no mag inserted and the chamber is empty)

Man wish I had thought of this when I got my M&P 9mm. Love 1911s, but want keep shooting 9s so I can split cases with friends :)

I have a lightly modded colt and am very happy with it- Colt stopped making 9mm's quite a while ago so they are only in the used market. If I was going to buy new, I think the STI trojan or (commander size) ranger II would be my choice- good quality and service in an Amercian made gun. Sa= Brazil
RIA=Phillipines
STI Spartan=phillipines

Hilton Yam recommends the new Metalform 10rd mags, he says they're a better choice for feeding hollowpoints.

I have a Kimber Stainless II - after replacing the extractor, it runs great.

1 SA loaded here and 1 full house custom Caspian commander.

Both are fantastic and fun to shoot. Buy quality 9mm mags though.  I  bought my 10 round mags from Metalform.  Been very happy.

Commander has become wife's gun. She just requalified for her CHL with it.  She shoots it far better than anything else in my arsenal.
