When I ordered my Spartan two weeks ago, I also ordered some ivory grips for it.
The grips are scrimshawed and they actually have some texture to them even though they aren't checkered. It's amazing how unique you can make a 1911 look. Whether you dig the scrimshaw or not you gotta give the artist some credit, he did a fine job.
