Who uses slim grips on their 1911s? I think my hands are about medium size, but I have trouble gripping large frame handguns. For this reason I love 1911s and revolvers. I can't shoot an N-frame S&W with factory targets very well because they are huge to me. Similarly, I'm wondering if slim grips on a 1911 would be nicer for me. My friend just picked up a Colt New Agent and it feels REALLY good in my hands. I'm thinking I might need to try some slim grips on my series 80 government model and see how I like them.

Anyone else like slim grips?

All my 1911's have the Navidex slim grips,  which I got from brownells.

My hands are not small, but not overly large either.  The slim grips fit better in my hands than do the normal size grips.

Have regular mahogany grips on my Defender now, but I want to try some slims.

Thinking about some of Esmerelda's.

I like mine, but because the slim grips don't have checkering that's as aggressive as the normal thickness ones (otherwise they'd get too thin in some places), MSH and front strap checkering become desirable.

My Les Baer TRS has the checkering, but my Colt Delta Elite does not...

Had them on a 4" SA Champion that I carried at work, actually a pretty big difference in the pistols feel.  That said, you get way more CCW benefits from a bobtail then the thin grips.

I'm talking about comfort and control, not concealability.

I've been running slim grips on my Kimber Custom Target for 10 years. Wilson Combat walnut. Love them.

In that case, I prefer full sized grips.

The thin grips give me a much better grip on the weapon.

I've tried them and found them wanting.  I have small hands, but find that a short  trigger does more for me than slim grips.

I have a couple guns with slim grips.  I think they're fine, but if I'm buying grips, I'll buy standard thickness.

I really like the slim grips. I have VZs on my Kimber and Wilsons on my Taurus. I have a Star BM that I wanted to try to carry. They don't make grips for it that as slim as I wanted. I bought some Micarta blanks and made my own. What a difference. Slim works very well for my meathooks.

I have the factory slim grips on my New Agent, and like them a lot. Those come from the factory already cut for an ambi thumb safety that uses the right grip panel for retention.

I have considered swapping some my other, more frequently used 1911s, over to the same thickness panel, for greater consistency in training, if nothing else.

Very simple way to find out the answer for free. Take the stocks off your 1911 and go shoot it. Thats exactly how a 1911 with slim stocks on it feels.
