My father gave me a Simson Luger P08 that his best friend left him when he passed away.    All the numbers match on the gun except the top link which was replaced in WWII with a link stamped "42" which is a Mauser link.   The finish is all original and in the 90+ % range, and there is a good bit of wear on the original grips (grips stipling has been worn flat in some spots, but the finish is all there).  The magazine it came with matches the gun as well.

I know that guns without all the matching parts can be worth a lot less, but since it is a Simson, they are fairly rare compared to other manufacturers.

I can't post any pics right now as I am traveling, but I wanted to see how much the value is affected with the top link being mis-matched.

Thanks for any insight.

Depending on the condition of the rest of the gun the value is in the $500-800 range as a parts or shooter gun.

Does all of the parts have an eagle over 6? Grip screws should have the eagle 6 stamps also. Bummer about the Mauser replacement part. Sounds like a 23 Simson, they are scarce, nice matching ones with matching mag are really scarce, I have seen them priced in the 3 grand range, the 42 toggle would really hurt its value.
