I bought a p16-40 limited about a year ago. Ever since the first round it fails to feed about the first 10 rounds of a full mag. Getting real sick of this pile. Also neither mag will hold the slide open after mag is emptied.  I sent the gun back once, but of course it was sent back to me unfixed. Any help or suggestions would be great! Thanks.

New X-extractor or old style extractor?

Basic run down is polish the slide breach face/case rim contact points on the breach, break the sharp edge of the breach face to bottom of slide, check the feed ramp to chamber section for the correct end angle/distance then polish the chamber if needed, fix/tune/polish the extractor's rim entry section, and change out the mag springs from the weak units Para uses to new working springs.

Also, you need to check the distance of the ejected spent brass.  Para uses a weak 20 lb spring that goes soft in less than 1000 rounds.  Depending on the ammo used, your new replacement recoil spring should be in the 20 to 23 lbs range (read 24 if you are  shooting way hot ammo).

Total action job on just the top end takes me about a hour, and if you add the bottom end including dumping the old Para FCG parts, then a few hours total time.  To bad you don't live in Denver or you could just drop by and let me loose tuning  the pistol, but as of now, it's either find a local smith or you do this by me writing novels and taking a few photo's to walk you threw it.

Note: if you want to do this yourself, E-mail me and I can do the write-ups and send you a few photo's of what needs to be done (I don't have a way to paste the photo's here that you will need, hence the reason for taking this email/off line).
