i generally carry a spare mag "just in case"... 12+1 should be enough but ide be a sucker if i needed 14... bla bla bla

anyways i went to the range a few weeks ago, dropped the mag out of my gun and started stripping off rounds (hp) to load it up with FMJ...

first 2 popped out then 3 or 4 fell out... i had a WTF moment and checked to find the follower had bound up in the mag...

i strip my mags down and clean them after every range trip but malfunctions can still happen i guess...

i have since retired the mag to a "range only" mag and carry new ones.

Yep.

Carryin' a spare mag or 2 (or 5) is a good idea.

Who'da thunk it, huh.

I have dedicated carry mags and dedicated range mags. The carry mags have been tested enough that I know they work, but are not even close to being worn, and are now seldom unloaded. I'll have to use them when I change out the carry ammo for fresher rounds, but that's it. The range mags are cheap Korean KCI mags. When I have enough money and time to take up competition and classes, I'll use dedicated factory mags for that.

It's good to have gear for specific purposes.

Yikes. Makes me think I need to run some through my carry mags to re-verify function. Haven't done that in a couple months.

Were you able to tell what caused the malfunction or do you think it was just a fluke?
