do you mean springfield xd compact? if not, then you are comparing a glock to a 1911. that is a punishable offense to some around here! but to answer your question generically....go to a range and shoot a FEW different types! this will help a ton. dont be like me and listen to what someone tells you that you need. i wasted about $150 because i was told to get a glock. i hated it and traded right away. it just didnt feel right. so try a few out and let yourself decide what works.

Try to get your hands on both and note the width of each. The Glock is a chunky gun, but between my G30 and any Springfield .45, I would choose my G30.

The G36 is a little thinner but only has 6 rd mag, still .45 ACP though. Only 45's i have are 1911's.

thanks for the info.  yeah it is the compact on the 45.  i own several of both brands.  just not the compact size.  i like the extra safeties on the xd but its not a deal breaker.  i thought about the 45 gap but decided against it.  i will see if one of the ranges around here actually has the compact models.  a few close to me do not have them for what ever reason.

thanks

If you are good with cocked and locked, an allow frame commander is very easy to carry and conceal. The thin single stack reloads are easy to carry and conceal as well.
If you are going IWB, thin is king. OWB, not as big a difference.

The glock 30 can be converted to 10mm.  Get the SF though.  Never tried a sgf .45.

You need to see which one fits you best and shoots best for you...

Personally I am a fan of the XDs

As long as one remembers that .45 ACP is not recommended for a Glock you need to use .45 GAP
