Can anyone recommend a good concealed carry system to use when running?  I'm really looking for something that will remain comfortable for a 6 mile run day after day... and please no fanny packs or Thunderwear

I researched some other forums and it seems two keep popping up:
Smart Carry
or
Pistol Wear

Any members have experience with these or can possible recommend something better?

Please excuse my ignorance if this has already been discussed.

Thanks in advance - SM

Some good discussion here.

I carry a Ruger LCP with keltec belt clip in a nemesis pocket holster clipped to my running shorts.  Pic is in the thread linked above.

This is where a belly band really comes in handy. I've had my ACE belly band for 5 years now and use it for running and road cycling. It doesn't flop around and distributes the weight so you don't notice it while running or cycling.

I'll go ahead and just copy my post from the original thread.  OP, I know you said no fanny packs, but I'm telling ya, I've run a half marathon with this set up, and it was comfortable.  Its a tiny pack––smaller than it looks in the picture.

I run a lot, and have found something that works very well for carrying.  The pack is a very small running specific pouch made by Nathan, and is designed for little more than gels and a key. It fits my P380, an ID and my house key perfectly. It is very light, breathable, and carries very close to the body––no bouncing at all (important).  Of course, it will work only for light guns, and my Kahr P380 fits very well, and I completely forget that its there.  I can knock out a 10K with absolutely no discomfort what so ever.  I highly recommend it to the OP, or anyone else in this thread looking for a way to carry while running.  Is it a G20 with a spare mag?  Of course not, but the alternative is not carrying at all, and I don't feel 'outgunned' when I am carrying it, I just understand its limitations.

Thanks for the feedback and information!!

Thanks for pointing me to that thread, there is some good discussion on the same subject... although one would never guess with the thread title.  Also, thanks for the holster suggestion.  A running partner carries something similar and I tried it out but wasn't too fond of it as it felt like it was always coming loose.  This was mostly a mental thing...

How comfortable is the belly band in hot weather and does it ever feel too constricting?

Although I originally said no fanny packs, that doesn't look too bad.  With waist packs, I'm mostly worried about it bouncing around, but you mentioned that it fits securely so that's another bonus.  What model is yours?

Its called the Gel Pack, by Nathan.  And it is very stable, with no bouncing (assuming you have a light gun).

RE: Belly Band; It's not constricting at all. Mine is 6" wide and while it does get sweaty (i'm cycling in 108 degree weather right now) it does not hold heat it to the point that I  notice it.

Razzman,

Do you think a J frame would fit in this? I'm really digging it. Perfect size and made for running so it won't look out of place and won't bounce around.

Yes and no.  I used the bag with my S&W 642 for about a year before I picked up the Kahr.  The J-frame was light enough (mine was an Airweight––a steel frame J-frame would probably be too heavy), but the opening in the pouch was just a bit small to easily draw from, it was kind of a 'push the gun out of the pouch with the left hand, then grab with the right' deal.  It worked, but the Kahr is smaller and draws easier.  But I had no reservations with the Smith in the Nathan pack.  Again––it beats the alternative, which before was having no gun at all.

A 'fix' that I had contemplated before picking up the Kahr was to modify the pouch slightly, putting a small extension of fabric at the bottom corner where the barrel sat, allowing it to sit about 3/4" deeper in the pouch.  This would have allowed the J-frame to sit a little more upright, and would have made the draw easier.  I paid attention in home ec classes in high school, so the sewing part didn't concern me
