I currenty carry a G19, but was considering upgrading to the .45 ACP... then I start hearing HORROR stories about higher cal Glocks going KABOOM like it was a 4th of July show... From what I can tell the vast majority of Kabooms in Glocks came from poorly loaded reloads, or poorly maintained weapons. Some say a Glock 21 will fire out of battery... will they? I have limited my search now (finally) to either a SW1911, or a Glock 21. yes yes yes, I know... get both. But since I cannot afford BOTH at the same time I have to choose. I LOVE my G19, and I have owned a SW1911 which I regret selling... but my big concern is the KABOOM issue in large cals... Glock Kaboom... Fact, or Fiction??? |
Bear.. i swear to god if you ask this question one more damn time i'm driving up to N. FL and beating you with a loaded G21 . Have you ever read of a recall from GLOCK on their G21? Ever wonder why? B/c there is nothing wrong with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop listening to these old school, single stack, if it's not a 1911 it's not a gun guys. i can make any gun in the world KB with the right load. I just saw a brand new H&K p2000 KB, seen S&W 357 revolvers KB, seen lots of beretta's in the Army KB. Really man let it go already. I'll make you a deal. If you buy a Glock G21 and it KB's and a gunsmith( decent one ) says it was not the ammo or the shooter and it was in fact the GLOCK , I'll buy you a S&W 1911. BUt please stop with this redundant question. Please ![]() J |

Ralph Nader told my my friend's Corvair would flip without warning. I don't play at his house anymore. I had a G21 for years. It was my first pistol. I still keep a G30. They are great guns. Get one and enjoy it. If stories really bother you that much, will you believe me telling you that they are fine? |

I have had several Glocks, I still have a few. All of mine were and are good autopistols. None of mine have Blown Up and all of mine were capable of firing out of battery. If I were a Glock type guy and the g-21 fit me ( which I'm not and it doesn't) it would be the one I would choose. It's a good gun. |

I've carried a G21 since they came out and bought a new one when they upgraded to tac rails. I have fired over 20,000 rounds,(hey I'm not a cop), through my current "carry" gun and have never had 1 problem. I also own 2 g-19s, ans a g-26. I have put "reloads" through my glocks with no probs. I normally shoot Corbon 115+p and 185+p in these pistols. Anyone know how many "kabooms" have been documented? My bet is that it's less than 25 total. Those were probably all user error/mal-reloaded, etc. I trust my Glock "heavies" with my wife and childrens lives and have never even paid attention to this kaboom theory. Remember in early eighties when glocks could defeat airport metal detectors? them were the days !!!!!viva mythology!!!! melbo |

I just recently saw a picture in a magazine of a blown-up Glock. The barrel was split in half down the long axis. The slide flew of and the frame was dammaged beyond repair. The mishap was chalked up to a super hot handload which might have done the same to any other pistol. |
I apologize. |
