Is anyone here an NRA pistol instructor?  I am taking the class/test at the end of the month. Is there anything I need to brush up on in the mean time?

Trust me when I say that the class is very basic. The information covered is all basic and the test is extremely easy. You shouldn't have any trouble passing the test, unless you just aren't up to speed with the basics.

IMO the best part of the class is the way they try to show you how to teach a class. The book you get while taking the class helps break the clase down in several parts. It makes it much easier to teach when you can keep the information organized.

Good Luck!

Which discipline are you taking?

I got my cert for home firearms safety, basic pistol, and personal protection in the home a few months ago.  The classes are good, but remember that it is an instructor class, so it is based on teaching you how to TEACH, not necessairly the material.  Expect the three golden rules to be reiterated throughout.  You will learn them exactly.  As our instructor said, "The NRA spent a lot of money on someone to come up with this wording, so you're going to learn it exactly as printed."  Safety is the number one point.  If you know your safety rules, you're fine.

I believe the tests were open book, and pretty basic.  They're really looking to make sure you know how to handle a gun safely and can convey the simple and important principles in the classes.  Enjoy the class, and be ready to wait for the credentials to arrive.

Thanks guys... I have been a competative shooter for some time...  so safety issues are always foremost....I was thinking they were going to ask a gazillion questions about dates/times certain antique firearms were invented, or who used what weapon at the battle of the Alamo or some such.

I am going for Basic Pistol Instructor (to be able to certify for the CCW permit here in Fla)
Home defense, and personal defense.  Its a 3 day class on the last Fri-Sat-Sun of this month.
