Ok, so my fellow Marines and I were having a discussion about handguns when the following was said:
"The reason I bought a .357 sig is because if I shoot someone at my front door it will blow them back into my front yard" This may be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard outside of a gun store. I just wanted to share this and see if anyone else had any similar stories. |

Every BS gun store or gun show myth has been repeated here more times than there are fingers and toes signed on at any given time. |

A guy I hated at work told someone that he shot through an engine block with a .357mag.
So I stopped and said: You shot through an engine block with a .357? What kind of engine? He said: A small block 350. I said: you can't shoot through an engine block with a pistol.
He said: It was telon tipped. I said: teflon tipped?! do you mean teflon coated?
Then told him that teflon is to soft to go through anything and it's used to lube the bullets going down the barrels. Then offered to bring him a block of teflon I have at home so he can push the magic stuff through engine blocks.
After that when ever I would over hear him telling people that he did this or that, I would walk buy saying: no you didn't |

One I read somewhere: In short: Superglue a primer in the tip of a hollowpoint and it will explode the guy when it hits. ![]() Actually, I like using those kids fireworks that pop when they hit the pavement. I sent a guy back in time with one round through his hand. |

I did just recently talk to a guy at work who laughing (yes laughing) about how he had bought a .40 cal handgun and how his teenage kid had found it, loaded a 9mm round in it and fired it in the back yard!
I don't own any .40's so I'm not even sure if his story is possible (I would think the chamber of a .40 would be too large to hold a 9mm and still have the firing pin hit the primer)? Either way, he claimed the cops where called and I forget now if he said his kid was or wasn't arrested? (I really stopped listening after I realize how much of an idiot this guy was). I just remember telling him if I was the cop, I would have arrested his ass for being a moron and then walked away

I kept hearing this over the years so I finally asked a trooper I knew about the whole .357 thing. He said that the NYSP had at one point isued an 'armor piercing' round for use if they ever had to shoot at a vehicle to get it to stop. The round wasn't carried as a duty round because you pretty much had to be maning a road block or have prior knowledge that a suspect vehicle was heading in yor direction. The round wasn't soo much actual armor piercing as it was a solid hard metal (steel?) bullet that would not shed it's jacket or squash flat like a lead bullet would. It couldn't pierce an iron engine block, but it could put holes in just about anything else that was in the engine bay.
Other than that this guy was a complete tool. Quoted:

Sadley the 9mm in a 40cal will work. Buddy of mine grabbed a 19 mag and loaded his 23 . worked for one round anyway 9mm case expanded into the 40cal chamber. Reminded me of the old 41action express. Not enough force to cycle the slide though. Lesson learned pay attention when loading your firearm.

So will the .40 in a .45. The results were not pretty.

I just wanted to share this and see if anyone else had any similar stories. One day I was walking to the parking deck at school, talking to a classmate. He said he was a bounty hunter on the side, and was planning on buying a Taurus Judge, because he heard that the .410 shotshell would crack an engine block...

That's why I carry a Glock 7 in .357 Sig. That way I can take it through an airport metal detector (because it's porcelain and costs more than you make in a month!), and then blow a man from first class into coach. The "glock 7" only comes in ".357 magnum" .. lol |

This is true I am super serial guys and ManBearPig is real!!!!! My favorite thing is gun control reduces crime!!! |

I hope you told him it won't.

aww, those nutty Hollywood guys,,,, Dirty Harry shoots a guy with .44mag and he flies 10' backward,,and JOE CITIZEN buys it,,and continues to spread the bullshit.. What's even funnier...Harry actually used .44 Special loads. He explains this to the young cops in Magnum Force while at the range. He states that he feels they are more "controllable". |

I hope you told him it won't. ![]() I told him that if I was going to use the Judge for self defense it would be loaded with .45 colts. |

you can't shoot through an engine block with a pistol.
