hey guys i have 1911 which needs refinishing, its my old stand buy colt 1991a w/ about 7200 rounds thru it. need opinions or suggestions which finish would be best. i carry the thing everywhere. looking for a dark finish, nothing flashy, but would have to be durable for everyday carry and handling use. suggestions pls.....

If you're going to send it out and have it re-finished then NP3 would be hard to beat. If you're going to do it yourself then generally you've got 2 options, blue or brown. Personally, If you've got the money I'd get the NP3, it'll last forever and because of the Teflon it'll reduce ware. Do a google on NP3 to learn more about it.

I had my Glock refinished in NP3.  Not only is it a great looking finish, it wears well, and it is extremely easy to clean up.

Robar Inc. does it.  I think that my Glock cost me about $130 for the slide and internals.  go to Robar's website, they have all of the specifics listed ther.  They have pictures of a Colt that they did their Roguard finish on the frame and NP3 on the slide.  Check it out.
