I am tempted on getting a CZ82 for $219 that they have in CenterfireSystems.com but I don't know much about these guns. I assume they are good since they where used by the Czech police in the 80s and 90s but still I am not sure how good  they are or in what condition. Is the price fair? Are these handguns good? I've heard many positive things about CZ products and thats why I am tempted but I am not sure how good they are or if I could spend my money in something better.

Thank you for your help pals.

Very good guns. Mine has been reliable and accurate enough. Trigger pull isn't too bad.
The bad points would be they have a chintzy painted finish which will chip off, and they are a bit large for the caliber. Still, I would recommend one.

I don't know about the CFS guns, but I got one from AIM and it seems to be the normal, well-made CZ product. I think they're a bargain.

I've got one.  Great pistol, very reliable.  Mine had an issue with the grip screws backing out under firing.  Once the grips came loose, they could engage the slide stop prematurely.  A bit of loctite on the grip screws fixed that.

The magazines don't drop very freely, though.  I have concerns about using it for serious purposes for that reason.  Other than that, they're damned fine pistols.

I have two. I like the size. The grip is a nice fit for me.
This guy carries some nice custom grips you can get. Might want to look here for grips also.
Get an extra mag if you can.
Here's a place you can get a holster.

I plan on sandblasting mine and putting a different finish on them. You'll find that the they will probably have paint missing by the trigger guard. That is from rubbing against the spare mag in the stock holster (spare mag put in wrong). The finish is durable but will probably be chipped. Some like the painted finish, some don't. I've seen some parkerized and they look great.

This guy has a great series on working on the pistols.

It's true that the mags don't drop very well. I think I read that it is by design.

I do find the DA trigger to be quite heavy.

I find that mine shoots about 4" low at 15 yards. You'll probably need some sight paint (or similar).

I've yet to find a good source for spare parts (get several ).

Other than the barrel the CZ82 and CZ83 (current production .380) are near identical. You can get parts from CZ USA.

It sounds like I may have to put some money in it. Is $219 the cheapest I can get it for? Anyone knows a place where they are cheaper? I have 6 rifles and the only handgun I have is a Ruger P85 which I love so far but I want to get another 9mm. Is there a better gun that I can get for about the same price as this CZ82?

You won't have to put any money into it if you don't want too (except a holster if you want to carry).
By the way, this gun fires the 9x18 round, not the 9x19 round that your P85 uses.

Excellent ergonomics (including sights and trigger), excellent accuracy, excellent reliability, mediocre "power", decent capacity, pretty compact.

I love mine.

ETA: It does not shoot 9mm Luger/Parabellum...it fires 9x18mm Makarov, totally different cartridge.

Yes, I saw it's a 9mm Makarov but I assume it's going to feel very similar to a 9mm Luger, right? I like how 9mm handguns feel because you have power yet a lot of control.

It will feel pretty close but it may be a little snappier because the CZ is a blowback operated pistol (like all 9x18s).

They run well and are great for a budget gun.  Get some wolf springs and it'll take away most of the snappiness of the
gun but will make the slide a bit harder to pull back.

Top quality pistol in used condition.  I've never seen one that was bad.

Great piece...well made. I would also recommend AIM. 95gr Hornady JHP rounds are spectacular. You are easily in .380/.38 special range of velocity/ft pds on target in this platform. I have many newer weapons that don't perform as well.

I looked in AIM and they are out of stock. I send them an e-mail to see when they will restock again. I also saw that on https://www.southernohiogun.com the CZ82s are cheaper. Do you guys think the condition would be good or if that is a good site to buy guns from?

Classic Arms has them as well.  They are GTG.

Careful with the mag count, some of the less scrupulous dealers will only give you one mag with the gun, and sell you a second for $30.

I got mine from CDNN over the summer.  It was under $200 with an extra mag since they had several grades to choose from.  Check them out.  Mine had some finish wear, but that was the only thing wrong with it.  Great gun for a great price.

+1 on shooting low.  Mine shoots about 4-6 inches low at that range and a bit to the right.  I could fix it easily enough, just haven't gotten around to it.

Would like adjustable sights, but I'm morally certain there's nothing made for them in that vein.

I remembered something else.

If you inspect the bore, don't freak out if it appears to have no rifling.  CZ-82s use polygonal rifling, which is difficult to see when looking down the bore.
