Today I bought my first handgun. I've had heard from friends that the P85 MKII was a good handgun to start so I bought it. I got it for $200 which I tought the price was good. I have a few rifles which I love and really have shot handguns only about 20-30 times so I am not very experienced. What should I expect in this particular handgun?

Thank you for your input.

Cool!  That's an "oldie but goodie".  Should run like a tank.

A bit heavy and bulky, but a solid pistol.

I've got a Ruger P89 and have run in the neighborhood of 5000 rounds through it with exactly one FTF.  That one was caused by a bad handload.  They are a little bulky, but will shoot anything you put through it.

$200 is a good price for that pistol.

Rugers are a bit on the bulky side, but they're stout and reliable.  Good pistols, and underrated for the most part.

$200 for the Ruger beats $200 on a HiPoint, Phoeniz or some other Zinc-clad time bomb.

You did yourself real good

Great start...you gotta tank.
I use mine for junk reload/overloads.
Being reasonably accurate, totally reliable...all that for $200...you win !
Take your time shooting it...may be more accurate than you think.

Thanks for your input guys. I am happy I got it now. I was worried since I got it for $200 but I've shot it twice now (about 150 rounds) and it shoots very good. Any ideas of how to clean it to make it more accurate?

If it didn't come with a manual, check out Ruger'sWebsite for one.  Just follow the cleaning and maintenance instructions in there and you'll be GTG.
