Appears to be .45 caliber (maybe .45 Long Colt) with rifled barrel. Circa mid 1800's is my guess.

i've looked the several books   and the closest thing i can find is a  Remington deringer made in 1867 by William H. Elliot. Who designed most remington's pocket pistols. The spes say  it have 5 grooves witha  r/hand twist but, this gun only measures 4.8 " in length. with a 2.4 " barrel and is chambered in .410. Did the best i could. Good luck
