Being 16, I can't really purchase a handgun but regardless my father told me to pick one out. I was looking for something that would compliment my bushy well. I've got a few pre-requisites: large frame, relatively manageable recoil, all around toughness, and I would like it to be something I could use for fun in some IDPA competitions. I have pretty much narrowed it down to Taurus' PT92 (9mm) due to its close resemblence to the M9 (since I will be in the military soon enough, the familiarization will be good). I've found a new one with an integrated accessory rail. The price is perfect and I haven't heard anything horrible... yet. There are a few things I still would like to know about it: 1. How customizable is it? 2. If you know of any hidden problems. 3. Absolutely any info you an give me about any aspect of it. |
I wish a PT-92 was my first handgun! Your dad is way cool! ![]() If it's any help to you, I have had many PT-92/99s through the years, in blue, satin nickel and stainless and none were bad at all. As a matter of fact, I don't recall one ever malfunctioning in any way either. The trigger pulls are a bit heavy but I do prefer the frame mounted safety/decocker over the Beretta's slide mounted safety. The warranty is great too. I think you will like it. |

I seriously considered a 1911 or one of it's clones but kept coming back to the M9 design due to the price, current usage, and lack of recoil. Oops, you said a 1991 NRM. I'm not particularly a pistol person so I'm not familiar with that. Just getting into them, I decided i might be able to save some money with a pistol addiction rather than my raging black rifle fever. |
