I am looking for some 1911 grip panels and have VERY soft hands. Ive held VZ's gators, diamondbacks, operators, and aliens and after shooting my hands become close to bleeding as if i layed my hand on the road while driving lol.
I will not be shooting .45, i will be shooting .22 so recoil management, losing grip, etc will not come in play nor will this be ccw, just general shooting, competition, and matches. i want them in black and not shiny. id like but does not have to be square bottoms and a beveled edge. Im open to different options but the ones ive been thinking of are Hogue rubber panels, the hogue ones with the palm swells, or VZ 320's. Im wondering if anyone has had these and what experiences you have with them. thanks |

I believe you have me all wrong here... i mentioned recoil is not an issue here and will not come in play because its .22 (unlike how it is an issue for .45) and i never said anything about soft grips  considering that the vz 320's arent very "soft" which is one of my choices im looking at... and who wears gloves shooting .22?? come on man

I'm a big fan of VZ 320s.
I also really like smooth grip panels coupled with checkering, stippling, or grip tape on both frontstrap and backstrap. My Gov't model wears a set of beautiful smooth wood grips, with a S&A checkered mag guide and grip tape running most of the length of the frontstrap. |

You can try a WTB here on the Arfcom EE, but I'd also check the "for sale" sections of M1911.org and 1911Forums.com. I found mine there. I think paid $8-$10 for them, and they were in perfect condition. Shouldn't be hard to find a good set as 1911 owners are a fickle bunch. 
Or, get them direct from Kimber for $16.95. Brownell's also has some by Pearce for $14.50. |
