I was at a local fun shop checking out pistols and they have a Browning BDM and a HK P7. $750 for the P7 and $425 for the BDM What say the hive mind?
Thanks |
| The BDM has no parts, magazines, or holster support. It was an interesting though unexceptional double action auto. The P7 is almost unique in operation and manual of arms, is exceptionally accurate, and will probably go up in value as soon as the current supply of police surplus weapons dries up. |

Is the HK P7 a M7(7 shot single stack) or M13(13 shot double stack)? The mags are really expensive. The sqeeze cocking P7 manual of arms is different from almost any pistol.
This is the kind of pistol bad guy Alan Rickman aka Hans Gruber used in the movie Die Hard 1 with Bruce Willis. |

The BDM was primarily notable for the slimness of the grip. FN made some boneheaded decisions with it, like making the safety lever work the wrong way, installing plastic sights, and designing it to use a whole new magazine while there were millions of BHP mags floating around already.
This was probably the death blow for the gun since it came to market not long before the AWB. I might pick one up for curio value if it were cheap enough, but I couldn't go over $350 for it. |

Is this a serious question? The BDM is an abomination that should be retroactively aborted from the firearms gene pool.
The P7 is an excellent (albeit unique) defensive handgun. Take your pick. If the cost is an issue I'd look for something else besides the BDM in that price range. |

P7
These things are amazing. If you get more than 1 mag, then $750 is good for even a B grade gun. Accurate, foolproof, safe, THIN, and conceal easier than you think. I've got a 32" waist and tuck a shirt OVER mine and it doesn't print in starched dress shirts with it in only a desantis pocket holster. They seem heavy (well they are) but if it is on your waist, it dissapears. Very accurate too and a joy to hold and look at. |
