Just wondering how many mags you keep loaded in the safe for each pistol......
All of them, none of them(the guns in the safe dummy), just a few...... |
|
This question gets asked alot here.
I keep 3 mags total loaded, all for my CCW gun. Though many here will say keeping loaded mags won't hurt the springs, I have some old Beretta 92 mags that were showing sgns of the feedlips starting to spread due to remaining loaded for long periods of time. |

My CCW has a spare 16-rd mag loaded and a 10-rd mag loaded in the pistol with one in the pipe. My nightstand M&P 45 has 4 10-rd mags full. My 1911 has three 8-rd mags full, but this is more for quicker range trips.
My 870 is kept full and I don't know how many AR mags I keep loaded. Though the last is more for quicker range trips just like the 1911. |

I keep around 20+/- G17, 17 round magazines loaded with Winchester 127grn Ranger T's. I have about a dozen G21, 13 round mags I keep loaded with 230grn standard pressure Gold Dots. I have around 40, 15 round M9 magazines loaded with 124grn +P Golden Sabres that I got a smokin deal on. I keep these in my "oh my god, run!" kit. I also keep a bunch of P226 mags loaded with 125grn Gold Dots.
Since leaving magazines loaded doesn't hurt them one bit, I figure why not....If Belgians are trying to kick my door down, I am not going to have time to load 20 handgun magazines. I have to store the mags anyhow, storing the loaded doesn't really make anything more difficult. I keep about 90% of my magazines loaded, ready for immediate use. |

How are going to run with all of that ammo? If that's how much you keep for your pistols in case of an emergency I'd hate to see what you plan on carrying for your rifle. Don't forget some water and other supplies that you're guaranteed to need as opposed to just have a chance you'll need. Myself, I keep my regular carry guns loaded with two loaded spare mags. If there is a genuine emergency I'm not going to be packing 12 handguns and 100 mags. |

Thanks for the info.... I did not do a search before I posted. I was just digging around in my safe and looked and all the empty mags I had in there(about half), and couldn't come up with a good reason for them to be empty......
As for loaded mags getting damaged over time, I've had two G33 mags loaded for more then 8 years |

Quoted:
3 mags for the bedside pistol. 2 mags for the carry pistol. All other pistol mags are not loaded. ![]() That's about how I roll too. Just don't see a whole lot of need for multiple loaded pistol mags. For the double-stack ones, it's usually the one in the gun and 1 spare. |
| My primary rifle and pistol, as well as my CCW and backup primary pistol all are stored with loaded mags inserted (chamber empty). In addition to that, I am working on a BOB\ASB bag that will be kepted in my safe when I am home and that is where my backup primary pistol will reside loaded along with 2 extra mags as well as 4-6 extra mags for my rifle. None of my other guns or magazines are kept loaded. |
